Born into a family with deep ties to both Swedish and Estonian traditions, Prince Björke embodies the dual heritage that defines Ruhnu's identity. He was educated in Stockholm and Tallinn, specializing in international relations and environmental conservation.

As a constitutional monarch, Prince Björke works closely with the elected government of Ruhnu while serving as the principality's chief diplomat and guardian of its traditions. • Appointing the Prime Minister following parliamentary elections
  • Serving as Commander-in-Chief of Ruhnu's defense forces

May 15, 2025

"As we celebrate the founding of our principality, I am reminded of the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions that make Ruhnu unique in the Baltic region. Our Swedish heritage, our Estonian connections, and our island identity all contribute to who we are as a people.

In these challenging times, we must remain committed to preserving our natural environment, strengthening our community bonds, and building bridges with our neighbors across the Baltic Sea. The future of Ruhnu depends on our ability to honor our past while embracing innovation and sustainable development.

I call upon all citizens and friends of Ruhnu to join me in this endeavor, as we write the next chapter in our island's remarkable story together."
